Our Mission

Inspired by God’s love we, the Kairos Team, offer to all who come here hospitality and spirituality in a prayerful, peaceful environment.

We aim to be at the service of all, gracious to guests and visitors, compassionate to anyone in need, while valuing the dignity and worth of each person.

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”

John 1:14

Our Core Objectives

  • To welcome anyone who needs to come away to retreat or, for whatever reason, to a place of quiet peace, harmony and hospitality conducive to rest, contemplation, personal growth and spiritual development.

  • To endeavour to support individuals or groups by offering a varied diet and providing spiritual direction, retreats, workshops, conferences or courses.

  • To offer organisations a place of distinct beauty and tranquillity, an urban oasis to share ideas and ideals, so that a deepened awareness might lead to positive attitudes in promoting individual dignity and growth. Thus, it promotes team building and assists in fulfilling each person’s potential.

Tracing the history of Kairos

The Kairos Centre has a rich and fascinating history, and its existence would have been impossible without the incredible and tireless work of Frances Taylor, currently known as Venerable Mother Magdalen. Her remains, transferred from Mortlake Cemetery in 1959, are interred in a vault in the Chapel on the site of the Kairos Centre and Maryfield Convent.

Find out more about her and the Congregation of the Poor Servants of the Mother of God.
